Darkness

"The ground we stand on looks solid enough, but if something happens it can drop right out under you. And once that happens, you've had it : things'll never be the same. All you can do is go on living alone down there in the darkness."
- 'After Dark' , Haruki Murakami

Like Picasso’s blue phase. Loved the "darkness" ones. Very fractal like.

Sub : Green happenstance
Feels nice to see my name written in same line as Picasso, lol. Though to be quite honest I can’t tell a Picasso from Rembrandt. It’s all greek to me. About the green phase, that’s the only color that one sees here in Sg.. what with 365 days of rainfall.

I am now sick of these green scapes. Over the Good Friday long weekend, I will try to venture into streets & back alleys. Hopefully the next lot would have different hues.

p.s : Google says, Picasso's blue period ended when he met a girl named Fernande. Should I wait for something similar to happen before ending my green phase..

I liked the pics, and I loved the first photo of 'Darkness'

You dont need Fernande to end your green phase, it's just sea sickness, get off the ship called 'Singapore' and welcome aboard 'Mumbai', your smokey grey phase will begin

And hopefully it will also end your bachelorhood with the increased possibility of you bumping into a Marathi Mulgi (a lot more chances than in Singapore, I am sure)

Get well soon IW!!!

Sub: Mumbai meri jaan

Aye Dil Hein Mushkil Hein Jeena Yaha..

Yeh Hein Bambai Meri Jaan..

The one time I took my camera out in Mumbai.. alongside Gateway of India & Taj, I was heckled by taxi drivers.. hawkers & the general gawkers (you can find them in 1000s in that strech) who kept querying..

"Saaab Kaunse Akhbhaar se aaya hein ? Times Of India ? Loksatta ?" ( Translation : Ars@h#le-with-a-fancy camera, you are from which newspaper ?)

I was severely traumatised, as in general, I am a non-people person. Just look at my pics taken over the years, you will find very few human elements in it. Not to mention, on my way back home in 2nd class compartment of local train.. my camera bag was severly crushed and I had to hold it over my head to save the lens from cracking. But as they say, "jaaye toh jaaye kahaa ?". When I do pack bags & head home.. most likely I will have to relegate my camera to a dry-box & retire for good (from photography)

again nice pics sir..
one more observation - are the pics a symbolic representation of ur life in mumbai and sg?? the greener one being mumbai... maybe ur subconscious mind is talking thru your pictures :-) better pack ur bags and get set go to mumbai for good... dont know why am i writing this (maybe it's my subconscious mind) :)

AB,
Though the first pic is green, it is by no means more cheerful or less brooding than the second pic. The shades of desolation are different, but the mood is same.

Mumbai, Singapore, Shanghai or anywhere, the external landscapes surrounding me may change but my inner landscape remains very much the same :)

As always, appreciate your appreciation for my pics & utterings :)

Wow@pics! And what apt words to chose...

Asha,

Yes, it's a case of happy happenstance - the union between my images & Murakami's words.

Thanks for browsing through :)
