A Chalet For Two @ Sibu Island - Malaysia

Me & my roommate went to Sibu Island - Malaysia, during Chinese New Year long weekend. My rommie had done bookings thru e-mails & phone calls. All the while he just mentioned that we need booking for 2 persons.

When we landed at the resort, the firang lady (owner of the resort) had a bemused expression on seeing 2 “guys”. She had assumed that 2 persons staying together at a beachfront romantic location, by default, had to be a “couple” ! She had taken great pains in setting a Queen-size bed, with flowers strewn on it for us (no kidding there) . The first thing we did when we entered our chalet was to throw the flowers in bin and set our pillows as far apart as we possibly could. I wanted to take picture of the immaculately made-up bed. But my roommate literally snatched the camera off my hands saying - "Yaar tereko toh kuch padi nahi hein.. Lekin mereko shaadi karni hein. Aisaa photo dekhegaa toh ladki kaun degaa ? "

You have a knack of getting into these situations man !

Billy,
I can't tell you enough, how happy I am to hear that my blog is being read by mum of a single eligible bachelorette. Now those are exactly the kind of readers that I want to attract & impress. Give my warm regards to your mum :)

Aria,
Have you introduced my blog to your mum ? If not, then please waste no time in spreading the good word :)

Well about 3/4 years back, I had vowed quite dramatically in front of my friends saying I won't go on any holidays with them in future. The next time I visit some excotic location, I would have a gal accompanying me. I waited patiently for 3 years, honouring the vow. Alas! long weekends came and went quietly, but I couldn't find any gal to join me on holidays. Admitting defeat, I broke my vow and resumed visiting romantic locations with my guy friends.. *big big sigh*

Cheti,
What can I say ? I guess, I just have a knack of being "single & unlucky" .

dude,
that was funny, but girls are showing your blog to their mothers????? And their mothers heave a hearty time???

Man, you should not have any prob getting married - if your personal bog is that clean and humorous to make girls' mothers laugh, then that makes you a most sought after prospective desi son-in-laws.

Aajkal aise ladke miltey kahan hai?
I am going to mail your blog to our neighborhood ladies club, with your details.

Atraa,
You are the BEST. Bhagwaan tere jaisa nek-dil dost sabhi kunwaaro ko de. Many thanks for the free publicity :)

rotfl :))
your friend seems to be funny as well...you should have let it be...

parikrama said...

Vi,

Would you have married "D" if someone showed you pic of "D" and another guy in bed decorated with flowers ;-)

Well tell yu what, we did keep the single "comforter" as it was originally meant to be. And I must tell yu, it was uncomfortable as hell. When yu see in movies a couple tucked comfortably under a quilt, you don't really get the real picture. When one person pulls the sheet, the other persons sleep gets disturbed. Whole night i had a tug of war trying to pull the sheet over my head.. while he tried his best to gain maximum control over the hapless piece of cloth! After experiencing the travails of shared bedding, I am all for my un-romantic single bed :)

:)) ok point taken.

lol@ tug of war

wow! so how was it??? had a "good" time with ur friend?? :P

btw .. I did read out this post for my mother :D My ma isn't all that net-savvy but she sits beside(actually behind my chair.. on my single bed) sometimes when I'm surfing .. and I read out stuff to her .. if I find something worth her taste ..
she had a good (thunderclap) laugh and now she knows you pretty well :)

parikrama said...

AB,
Well since you spelled "good" without the trailing "h", I will give you benefit of doubt and give a "straight" reply - Yes, indeed we had a good time together.

Aria,
Jab Maa - Beti raazi toh kyaa karegaa kaazi ;-) In my next post I am gonna post my horoscope and full length soft focus photograph. Mummy ko zaroor dikhana :)

ROTFL IW. How and why do you get into such situations? Remember to chase Atra to make sure he has forwarded your details to the neighbouring ladies club :)

You know you have a classic sense of timing, dont you IW? [Scarlett starts laughing again].

And also if you are back from your romantic interlude, take up my tag!!!

Scary

Scary,
You are so very right. It's all about Timing (incidently I haven't worn a watch for past 6.5 years). Trust me, I am just waiting for the "right" time to take up the tag :)

I know Atra will keep his word. Here is a never before revealed secret. Few months back Atra introduced me to a Maharashtrian girl.. & not just a Maharashtrian - a Malvani Maharashtrian gurl, at that. She was visiting Singapore. We had Lunch Date.. Museum Date.. Book Exhibition Date.. Dinner Date.. Beer Date ( eventhough I am not much into beer, but still ) . Okay to cut the long story short - In due time, the gurl went back to Mumbai.. We continued communicating through e-mails & text messages. Everything was hunky dory & life seemed to be full of promises, until few days back I received a mail from her - with her wedding invitation scanned & dutifully attached. End of story.

So yeah, I have faith in Atra. I just want to say you too should do something for your rapidly ageing brother.

Anantha,
You are the first person to fleetingly praise the snaps. The rest of them were too busy taking pot shots at my sorry plight. Thanks a lot..

ROFL! When the FOB's in US used to hug infront of firangs..i had to push them and say..Dude..not here..! And the cottage does look suspicious dude!

parikrama said...

Moto,
Suspicious ???? That's a serene looking chalet, bit rustic but 100% respectable. It certainly doesn't look like those cheap beachside shacks which are rented out on hourly rates. I would beg you to take a second look at the pic :) Thanks just the same for stopping by and commenting.

rotfl @ iw.
somehow interesting things keep on happening to you ;-).

and as usual the comments between the ex guru-shishya pair is hilarious.

Koi movie me role mila kyaa ? What else could explain your late entry ? It's almost like the stars who arrive fashionably late at the end of party ;-)

Thanks just the same.

mereko kaun movie me role dega baap? art phillum waale bhi bhag jaayenge.

when i shifted from bloglines to google reader, your feed somehow was lost in import/export. and i was wondering why you aren't writing.

ab sab thik hai.

cheers,
asuph.

Asuph,

Agar Mimo Chakraborty & Tusshar Kapoor ko role mil saktaa hein toh tereko kyu nahi mil saktaa ?

Start spending 3/4 hours daily in your office gym.. Learn Horse-riding, Karate & Dancing.. phir dekh kaise producers ki line lagti hein tere ghar ke saamney ;-)

The other day I saw interview of Mimo, apparently he has spent 8 years (his words, no exaggeration) preparing for his soon to be released debut film "Jimmy". Now that's dedication for you.

came in late but could'nt help noticing the date of this post: feb 14th! maybe you should start reading the divine readings on the wall...

Mr. Sherlock Homes alias Prof.Suresh,

I was surprised till now nobody noticed the irony (or divine readings as you call it) behind the date of this post :)

It so happened that I had nothing cheerful to do or report on V-Day, so I just decided to humour myself by documenting this unfortunate incident. But looks like by doing that I have dug my own grave.

But still i must congratulate you for your sharp observation skills :)

p.s. : Have you ever eaten at Murugan Idli Shop in Chennai ? They have opened a branch in Sg, and I must tell yu the idli's served there are nothing short of "divine". There is no other way to describe them.

suresh said...

:)

well in chennai there are many more options than MIS. Well the idlis there are spongy and soft but lack in flavour. If fate by any chance takes you to Chennai do swing by New Woodlands. Those are great. and If you are of the adventurous type go to Mylai Karpagambal Mess on East Mada St., Mylapore. The place is a 40yrs joint that is little short on cleanliness (cleaned intermittently over the year) but food is heavenly. But then being in Singland, MIS maybe the closest you can get to those perfect idlies.

suresh said...

and i forgot the great Ratna Cafe in Triplicane with couple of more branches in the newer parts of the city. Those chaps drown the two idlies in mugs of sambhar. and the universe nods in agreement when asked is this the best sambhar around.
chennai rocks man! and i am rotting in Blgr. Such is life!!!

parikrama said...

>> chennai rocks man! and i am rotting in Blgr. Such is life!!!

:)) Today I quoted above line to CN (Cptn. Nemo, he is in Sg for a business trip) He said, people from Chennai would "NEVER" like food from any other parts of the world no matter how good it is :)

But coming from a guy who conducts food tours in South, I will take your recco's without any hint of regional bias. Btw, we do have a New Woodlands branch here in Sg. I ate there once, but didn't quite feel like going again. It wasn't upto the mark. MIS , on the other hand has gained such huge word-of-mouth reputation , that too within just 2 weeks of opening. Today we had to wait about 15/20 mins to get a seat. Whereas Saravana Bhavan which is just a stone's throw away was almost deserted.

I guess the verdict (in Sg) is out. MIS is the winner, by a mile.

So far as hygiene issue is concerned.. fikar not, it doesn't bother me a bit. There's a small joint in Sg called "Laxmi Vilas" (or something of that sorts) There's a sign on their door which says "Established 1947" .. low on cleanliness etc, but they serve the best Paper Dosa n Coffee in whole of Sg. Their main business is providing "meals packets" to Indian workers on construction sites.. So the emphasis is on economy.. but the taste of their sambhar and veggies still lingers on my tongue.

suresh said...

Well it is not that I am partial to Chennai, I just lived there for couple of years. But then there are some nice joints in B'lore as well. I have been to New Krishna Bhavan close to Sampige Theater in Malleswaram and Vidyarthi Bhavan on Gandhi Bazaar Road and not to forget the great MRT near Lal Bagh. If one discounts the pain to get to these places, the food that is available is great. Unlike normal places that have a list of "speaicals" NKB has a list of 'Unusuals", which are not-so-popular Kannadiga fare. VB serves special masala dosa and mugs of chutney. Maybe it is time to put things up in a blog.
